Mariela was honored at the White House and named as Champion of Change for World Refugees by president Obama in 2015. She was recently selected as a High Profile Supporter for UNHCR and Points of Light Ambassador. Mariela strives to spread a message of peace and hope while encouraging students to work hard and not to take things for granted.
